¤ About My Pets ¤

A lot of people ask me why I won't trade my pets and the answer is simple: most of them are named after my real-life cats. In case anyone is interested, I thought I'd share a little bit about them.

Brie
[1993 - 2009]

Born in March 1993, Brie is my oldest and the first cat I ever got. She came to me by way of a neighbor whose friend's cat had kittens and needed to find homes for them. Because I lived alone at the time, my neighbor insisted I needed a cat so I reluctantly took her in (I knew nothing about cats and considered myself a "dog person"). Brie passed over to the Rainbow Bridge on November 13, 2009 after 16½ wonderful years. She is missed very much.

Blossom
[1993 - 2005]
I got Blossom in December 1993 when she was only 7 months old. I adopted her from the local Humane Society and it was love at first sight! I was looking through all the cages when I noticed this outstretched arm sticking out of her cage almost as if she was saying, "Mommy, I'm up here - don't miss me!" So I took her home and loved her until the day she died 12 years later. She was a quiet, gentle, kind cat and I miss her terribly.

Buddy
[1994 -   ]

Buddy and Buster are the only cats I have that are actually related. They both came to me when they were only 6 weeks old. One of my sister's employees had them and had to find homes for them fast so, me being the sucker I am, I took them in. As the oldest male, Buddy has always been the "man of the house" and is very picky when it comes to any kind of affection - it's always on HIS terms. But I've noticed the older he gets, the sweeter he becomes.

Buster
[1994 - 2005]
Buster was my only long haired cat and he was nothing but a big, furry ball of love. He was more than likely the runt of the litter as he had a lot of medical problems during the last few years of his life. But he was absolutely the SWEETEST cat I've ever known. During our 11 years together I never once heard him hiss. He was also very playful and content to just love and be loved. Like Blossom, he is very much missed.

Flash
[1999 -   ]

Flash came to me by way of my sister - she found him at a local convenience store rummaging through a dumpster. He was probably about 8 weeks old at the time but it's hard to say because he was so tiny. My sister named him Flash because he was so hyperactive and would dart across the room so fast all you would see is a flash of black and white fur. I call him "Flashpuppy" because of his big, puppy-dog eyes. He is definitely the most spoiled of all the cats.

Destiny
[1999 -   ]
I adopted Destiny from my sister in 2003 when she moved to Japan. Out of all the cats, Destiny is the sweetest, most playful and least demanding cat I live with. She's extremely loving and loves to cuddle with me while I'm watching TV. She's also obsessive about cleaning and if she isn't cleaning herself, she's got one of the other cats pinned down and is cleaning them. Destiny can also play fetch and her favorite toy is a long black ribbon - it's her security blanket.

Noel
[2001 -   ]

Noel found us when she was about 7 months old. Her previous owners pulled up in a van on our street, threw her out the side door and drove off. She wandered around for a couple weeks and then, one day, showed up at my patio door as if to say, "Ok, I'm home now - may I please come in?" I opened the door, she made herself at home and she's been here ever since. She's definitely spoiled rotten but she's also very affectionate. She even does tricks when it's time for her to get some attention.
